The term PPE carries much more weight in 2022 than 5 – 10 years prior. PPE is an abbreviation of Personal Protective Equipment. The government’s HSE website defines PPE as ‘equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work.’
Although this is a valid description, Personal Protective Equipment gained a whole new lease of life during the Covid 19 pandemic. Becoming mandatory in the UK in 2020/21, facemasks became one of the newest additions of necessary equipment needed to ensure the safety of individuals across the UK.
PPE comes in many shapes sizes, types and standards however it boils down to safety clothing and accessories that reduce the levels of injury risk whether in public or within occupations. It’s key to keeping workforces safe from the environment, themselves and often diminished, each other.
