While it could be easy to forget that Coronavirus is still around, the latest government figures suggest this is far from the case. COVID infection levels in the UK rose by almost 30% in the first week of July and the Office for National Statistics figures found that 2,873,600 people in the community in England were estimated to have had Covid in the week ending 6 July. While vaccinations mean Coronavirus is less deadly than it once was for many, it is still highly infectious and there are still fatalities.

Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE) used to protect you against the inhalation of hazardous substances. There are many work environments where RPE is vital to remain safe, and others may opt to wear RPE as a precautionary measure.

Respirators are RPE that utilise filtering devices. They use filters to remove contaminants from the air being breathed in, protecting the wearer’s lungs and respiratory system. They split into two other smaller types:
